I wanted to create a desk for a writer or artist, a desk that would draw you to it but also not be a block of darkness sitting in a room. The spectacular top draws attention and highlights the openness of the base. I often use curves in my work so the legs became curved, similar to the back splats of my Biloba chair. To give them yet another dimension they are slanted outward and then twisted out of the plane. Slanting and twisting the legs provide stability that is beyond a traditional rail and post table.
Of course the pencil drawer comes in handy too.
