Northwest Fine Woodworking
has allowed me to develop 3 high end dining furniture designs
as well as a couple of carving jobs each year. I’ve built
over 120 dining sets and three years ago I passed the 1000th chair
mark. 90% of all my work comes from this gallery! Because of this
exposure I have been able to expand my design work, so that in
the last two years several designs have been published in fine
furniture and wood art books. The quality of work by all the members
of this gallery continues to spiral upward. |

Carving has been a passion
of mine since first taking carving lessons in Norway for a year
in 1970. Using the northwest wood of fir in a vertical cut, the
linear lines show depth like no other wood I know. Notice the
shoes and how the straight grain flows in and out. Dance and ballet
are a fluid art form - I thought this material would
capture a single moment in a pirouette and reflect back to the viewer. |
