Northwest Fine Woodworking
Aaron Levine

The 30th year anniversary of The Northwest Fine Woodworking is a tremendous achievement. This inspired and impassioned confluence of artists, staff and patrons is a beacon of culture and communal spirit. In a region that has seen birth of ceramics and then glass into the international spotlight, NWFW continues to shine a light into the Pacific Northwest’s undiscovered territory of contemporary studio furniture. It has been a pleasure to be a part of it and I am looking forward to its next exciting decade.
Northwest Fine Woodworking
With my sculptural background and formal academic training in the arts and sciences, my work is an exploration of the fusion of art, science and ideas through furniture forms with the hope of expanding the range of contemporary studio furniture. In this particular table, the distortion of the tessellated pattern on the top was informed by the structure of the arms underneath. Because of this, it is no longer a table with a base attached to it but a whole object whose integrated parts have a connected purpose in the formation its own structure.
